Free asparagus

I love asparagus and today when I picked up our weekly veg I mentioned how nice our small bunch was to the girl giving out the boxes.  Oh, great, she said, we have some day-old bunches there, help yourself.

So I did.

I thought about Parma ham and grilled asparagus but I’m not convinced you can get Parma ham here.

What’s your favourite thing to do with asparagus (apart from just eat it!)?

Home made mayonnaise, poached egg, toasted goats cheese on the top…

  2. Steamed, then served on top of pasta with a blue stilton sauce. Mmmmmm my mouth is watering (but no cheese for me till Easter, unfortunately).

    Ooh Ferijen that sounds yum.

It’s really good roasted as well. Just toss in olive oil, roast and eat sprinkled with salt if you like.

  4. OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE Asparagus.

Brush very lightly with olive oil, and lay in a griddle pan… turn occasionally and when cooked (nice and crunchy still) lay on a serving platter and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds and a medium/dark soy sauce… it is DEVINE!
